Custer FAQ

Genesis is a being who should have never been. A completely new idea that defies the laws of God. Heaven and Hell together. It's mother was a demon and it's father an angel. It's powers are that to rival God's. It remembers everything that has ever happened, and knows everything about everything. It is in posession of secrets and answers that previously only God knew.

It was born without a soul, and thus - when it was strong enough and gained the will to do so - it broke out of it's prison in Heaven and sought out a somebody to fuse with.
That somebody was Jesse Custer.

Genesis shares it's secrets with Jesse. Sometimes he knows when it speaks to him, others he doesn't. At times, it even uses the figure of The Duke to convey it's message.

It desires a complete merging of itself with Jesse.

In it's current state, Genesis is relatively powerless. With the will and mind of Jesse Custer holding it back, it's only a small portion of what it could be.

Jesse and Genesis both have begun to equate the entity with the male sex because of it being inside of Jesse. Genesis in truth has no real gender.

The Word is a power bestowed upon Jesse by Genesis. When The Word is spoken, it must be obeyed.

There was only one time when The Word didn't work as intended, and it was due to God himself setting things up to try to convince Jesse to stop hunting him by putting Jesse and Tulip in a situation that got her killed so that He could ressurect her. The power was restored, and Jesse didn't listen.

Jesse, while using The Word, has cause the following:
- The Saint of Killers to stop in his tracks and not fire his gun.
- Angels to tell the truth.
- A man to sodomize himself. Literally. He cut off his own genetalia and then used it on himself.
- A man to drop dead instantly (just by saying "die")
- A group of men to burst into flame
- Soldiers, policemen, enemies to drop their weapons
- Soliders to flee into the desert, wondering if they're supposed to "fuck off" forever.

The Word must be obeyed by all. There is not a single being in the world that can resist it.

There are, naturally, problems when the people Jesse uses it on know not one word of English and he doesn't speak their language.

John Wayne is Jesse's childhood hero. His daddy's hero too (the lighter jesse carries that says "fuck communism" was given to his father by John Wayne in Viet Nam). WHen Jesse was a boy, The Duke started to speak to him during a television showing of McLintock. This was four years before his death in 1979. The Duke gives Jesse advice and helps him think things through. He guides him and keeps him company.

Only Jesse can see and hear The Duke.

A born killer.

The Saint was once a mortal man. He fought in wars, and killed thousands. He was known as a murderer throughout the entire west. Killing nearly everybody he came across. He managed do damn himself by taking an innocent life while trying to avenge the lives of his family. Those he was fighting killed him with a shovel in the chest, and he went straight to Hell.

The souls of all those he'd ever killed were waiting for him to lead them into the fires. But when he got in himself, he hadn't lost any of the hate that burned in him, and it caused Hell to freeze over. The devil, angry at the state of his kingdom, tried to rip the Saint's heart from his body, finding only an incredible coldness there. In hopes of getting things back the way they should be, he whipped the ice blooded man until his bones were showing.

The Angel of Death happened to be there, playing cards with the devil. He'd been just saying how he was tired of his vocation, having not been given this assignment until after men had come into being. He approached the pair and proposed an idea.

The man could go back to earth to exact his vengence on those who'd ruined his life, in exchange for taking over the duties of the Angel of Death. He would become the Saint of Killers, Patron Saint of Murderers and Assassins. He would answer only to God himself, and wait in a special place under Boot Hill until God had need for him. His shade would walk the Earth and gather the souls of the dead wherever med died by violent means.

An agreement was made. The Angel of Death's sword was melted down and made into twin Walker Colts. The guns do not misfire, nor do they ever fall on empty chambers. No shot they fire ever misses it's mark, and every wound they give is lethal. The Devil stitched up The Saint's body, doing his best at repairing the damage he'd done with the whipping, but he was rushed and untrained, so the Saint will always bear those marks.

When the deed was done, Hell returned to it's former state, and as he was leaving, The Lord of Hell shouted his heart at the back of the Saint. Who promptly turned around and shot him in the face. The Angel of Death lamented, and realized that there was nothing to be done. The Saint walked freely. Only God could make him stop.

Well, here it's got to be admitted that there was a fuckup in math. I'd calculated it at 35, and left it at that, even though it sort of didn't feel right. Recently I redid the math, while carefully looking at the books and discovered that his age sits at 29.

So Jesse is 29, not 35. It has been changed in game, and we shall pretend that he's been 29 the whole time. SHHH.

Men of the cloth choose between boxers or briefs, very rarely ever going toward bikini or boxer briefs. It's just not comfortable for what they've gotta do otherwise.

Jesse, however, doesn't wear underwear.

He doesn't know about monks, as he's never met one.

And he doesn't know the word for that.
